Toyzone: the systems behind 100,000+ UK customers.

I built the system behind Toyzone’s global product sourcing, shipping, inventory management and delivery, supporting a business serving 100,000+ UK customers and designed for 10× growth.

01

The business requirement

Toyzone needed software connecting global product sourcing with the operations required to get orders to UK customers. My work covered the system behind that business, spanning sourcing, shipping, inventory management and delivery.

02

My contribution

I built the entire operational system behind Toyzone to connect these functions and support the business as it scaled. The scope went beyond one automation: it brought the product journey from global sourcing through to customer delivery into a connected system.

03

A connected operational workflow

Automatic global product sourcing formed one part of the system, alongside shipping, inventory management and delivery. The workflow above summarises those areas without disclosing private business data or implying a particular vendor or technical architecture.

04

Scale: 100,000+ UK customers

The system supported a business serving more than 100,000 customers in the UK. This customer scale is reported from my work on Toyzone; it is not a measure of simultaneous users, daily orders or application throughput.

05

Built to support 10× growth

The system was built to support tenfold business growth. That was the growth requirement behind the engineering work, rather than a claim that revenue or customer numbers increased tenfold or that a tenfold load benchmark was measured.

06

What this work demonstrates

End-to-end operational software engineering: connecting product sourcing, stock management and fulfilment around the needs of a growing retail business. For a similar project, I would start with the current product-to-delivery journey and identify where disconnected systems constrain the next stage of growth.
